Introduction | NIT2 is a member of the nitrilase superfamily. NIT2 protein has an omega-amidase activity which removes potentially toxic intermediates by converting alpha-ketoglutaramate and alpha-ketosuccinamate to biologically useful alpha-ketoglutarate and oxaloacetate, respectively. In addition, Nit2 is widely distributed in nature and is thoµght to be a tumor suppressor protein. |
