Introduction | GHBP is a transmembrane receptor for growth hormone. Binding of growth hormone to the receptor leads to receptor dimerization and the activation of an intra- and intercellular signal transduction pathway leading to growth. A common alternate allele of this gene, called GHRd3, lacks exon three and has been well-characterized. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Laron syndrome, also known as the growth hormone insensitivity syndrome (GHIS), a disorder characterized by short stature. Other splice variants, including one encoding a soluble form of the protein (GHRtr), have been observed but have not been thoroµghly characterized. |
Synonyms | GHR, GHBP, GH receptor, Somatotropin receptor. |
Source | Escherichia Coli. |
Physical Appearance | Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. |
Formulation | GHBP was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution with 0.0045mM NaHCO3. |
Solubility | It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Growth Hormone Binding Protein in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. |
Stability | Lyophilized Growth Hormone Binding Protein althoµgh stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution GHBP should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
